Henry Selick, Coraline

Henry Selick stands at the top of today’s stop-motion animators. Selick’s reputation was first made with shorts for MTV and then in 1993, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. He adapted and directed this 3D-vision Coraline from Neil Gaiman’s book of the same name. He discusses what a story must have to involve him for four years’ work, why stop motion is ideal for 3D, and how his two sons may be following in their dad’s footsteps (25 minutes).
