George Bartenieff
Will sits down to talk to George Bartenieff about his role as Alan in the 2010 production of Karen Malpede's Prophecy at New York's East Fourth Street Theater. He describes the trajectory of the piece, beginning with its origins as a conceptual marriage between a recitation of the names of the Iraq war dead and a short story. We then go way beck in time to hear how the elder Bartenieffs founded a dance company in Berlin, only to close after they grew tired of receiving bad reviews in the Nazi press. Then: a golden-tongued description of the New York theater scene in the '70s (34 minutes).
