Eva Mendes, Robert Duvall, and James Gray, We Own the Night

60th Cannes Film Festival Special: After two highly acclaimed but noncommercial films, Little Odessa (1994) and The Yards (2000, subsequently re-released on DVD in an entirely different director's cut), writer-director James Gray returns to Cannes with We Own the Night, an action-packed character study of a cop's son (Joaquin Phoenix) who works in a disco-throbbing Brooklyn dance club circa 1989 and finds himself horribly entangled with the Russian mob. Robert Duvall, who plays the cop father, and Eva Mendes, the son's girlfriend, discuss the movie and their careers in this Beyond the Subtitles exclusive.
