Emmanuelle Bercot, Standing Tall

France’s Emmanuelle Bercot's winning streak began when she won the Cannes Best Actress award in May 2015 for her bravura turn in My King (opening in the U.S. later in 2016), and then when she landed a directorial role of Standing Tall. Standing Tall is a valentine to France’s remarkable juvenile judicial system, charting a difficult youth who is repeatedly given chances at rehabilitation by a caring judge (played by the magnificent Catherine Deneuve). The film was selected to open the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and received eight nominations at the 41st César Awards.
