Ellen Barkin and Sam Levinson, Another Happy Day



The Screen Actors Guild October 2011 screening at Manhattan’s Angelika Film Center introduced a new talent in writer-director Sam Levinson whose debut feature Another Happy Day won the prestigious Sundance Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award last winter. As the moderator for the post-screening discussion with producer-star Ellen Barkin and Levinson (yes, he’s the son of Barry Levinson who directed Barkin in Diner), we hear how this first script attracted the likes of Ellen Burstyn, Demi Moore, Kate Bosworth and enticed Mommie Dearest vet Diana Scarwid out of semi-retirement in Georgia.
