Eileen Myles

Poet Eileen Myles reads passages from and discusses her autobiographical novel, Inferno, a vivid and brilliant recreation of the gritty days in the Greenwhich Village of the sixties, and the tempering through fire to forge the identity of the poet- her identity and her vocation.

The charismatic Myles has become is an icon amongst East Village poets and lesbian activists, having been the Artistic Director of the Saint Mark's Poetry Project for many years as well as touring with Sister Spit, a post punk female performance troupe. She has also taught literature and Poetry at the University of California in San Diego. She is the author of The New Fuck You: Adventures in Lesbian Reading.

She has published numerous collections of poetry, most notably, Maxfield Parish: Early and New Poems, Skies, and the forthcoming collection of new poetry, Snowflakes. Her fiction includes the short stories collection read and Water and the novel Cool For You. Her essays and writing about art are collected in The Importance of Being Iceland.
