Dread Scott and Naomi Hersson-Ringskog
Artist Dread Scott takes the Clocktower by storm, talking about "Wanted," his most recent project created in collaboration with No Longer Empty. Bringing together youth and mature folks from the Sugar Hill neighborhood, "Wanted" started out as an indictment of "Stop and Frisk" and the wider criminalization of youth, but in light of the much publicized death of Michael Garner in Staten Island and the murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Scott's piece has become a tragic and prophetic work about the universal problems of police brutality and violent abuse of power. Executive Director of No Longer Empty, Naomi Hersson-Ringskog, talks about the project and the wider scope of NLE curatorial projects throughout New York and the use of empty real estate to promote a vibrant arts environment.
