Dori Berinstein, Gotta Dance

Filmmaker Dori Berinstein saw an ad for an open audition that called for seniors over 60 to
perform hip-hop dance moves as halftime entertainment for the New Jersey Nets and immediately began filming Gotta Dance. A year later, with over 350
hours of footage whittled down to 90 minutes, she has shaped a classic
scenario in which that chronicles the development of the dance outfit, called the NETSationals. From first
rehearsal to opening night, Gotta Dance skips along with an
old-fashioned feel-good charm. Berinstein’s debut documentary was
2007’s ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway (24 minutes).
