DJ Richard Nixon, Hailu Mergia
On a sleepy Saturday afternoon in the middle of the July 4th weekend DJ Richard Nixon stopped by Bene's Record Shop and found it open for business. The Ethiopian jazz and funk Hailu Mergia had played locally the night before at Pioneer Works, and Bene had both his re-releases in stock. This was sufficient inspiration for Nixon to launch into another installment of Live From Bene's. "I play," he says, "only records that are in-stock, in the shop!"
