DB52: Rock 'n' Roll, Part 3

This mixtape is all guitar riffs, and very few electronic grooves including quite a few names not played on Blurring Radio before, as well as some old favorites. The list includes no less than seven female vocals in this still very male dominated genre. Enjoy a couple of hours of some groovy, some aggressive energy to warm you up during these winter days! DB asks that listeners please write in with any comments or requests to INFO@DJDB.com.

In this program you will hear tracks by: Eugene McGuinness, The Veils, Queens of the Stone Age, The Young, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Girls Names, TOY, Ume, The Budos Band, UNKLE, The Shivas, Dead Weather’s cover of Gary Numan, Hookworms, 120 Days, TV on the Radio, Ruby Frey, Elephant Stone, BRONCHO, The Happy Hollows, The War on Drugs, The Arctic Monkeys, Younghusband, Arcade Fire, Editors, Savages, and the very first thing Bauhaus ever did.

STAR WARPS: AN ONLINE BOOK OF ART INSPIRED BY STAR WARS
DB met four diverse artists: Bill McMullen, The Sucklord, JK5, and Kostas Seremetis and was inspired by their work. They in turn were excited by DB's idea of curating a project of this nature, and encouraged him further. The project finally became reality when Philip Kuperberg became involved, a technology wunderkind who designed and constructed the "book" that you are about to journey into. The artist's styles, mediums, and subjects are diverse, but the two main themes that emerge are either culture-jamming, or works by artists who were simply inspired and/or influenced by Star Wars and have incorporated some element of the universe into their work.

RADIO SERIES

As a kid in London, DB used to fall asleep at night with a transistor radio hidden under his pillow. He has been addicted to hearing new music ever since. Here, he brings that music to you.

This is not a music show that's restricted to a particular genre, or even a specific decade, although it has an emphasis on indie rock with electronic elements or electronic music that's not simply for the dance floor. It's a 90-minute mixtape-style show that is as musically open-minded as the musical landscape is wide.
