Daniel Burman, Lost Embrace

At 32, as of this recording, Daniel Burman has become a leading member of the New Argentine cinema, with such producing credits as the recent international hit, The Motorcycles Diaries and four features he has both written and directed. His 2004 film Lost Embrace is a comedy starring Daniel Hendler, who won the Golden Bear for Best Actor at the 2004 Berlin Film Festival. As he describes it to Stephen Schaefer, the film is set in the quickly changing Jewish community of Buenos Aires, where he grew up. Burman has yet to be seduced by Hollywood, although it was his relationship to the Sundance Institute, where he won a screenwriting prize, that led to his producing The Motorcycle Diaries with Robert Redford.
