Complex Minimalism

This program exposes some of the edgier creations made by composers who innovated in the surprisingly complex world of minimalist music. It does not exhaustively investigate all the who’s and hows, the influences, and histories of this music, but a few revelations and comparisons can be found here. And some of these works are also widely seen as belonging in related genres such as Ambient, Drone, Trance, Noise or Process music (look for our other segments that focus on these). Produced by composer David Weinstein, this segment features works by Philip Glass, Steve Reich, James Tenney, Terry Riley, LaMonte Young, Brian Eno, Arnold Dreyblatt, and Alan Lamb.
