Bobby Fischer Against the World

Documentarian Liz Garbus, who is partnered with Rory Kennedy, recounts the incredible but true saga of America’s troubled Bobby Fischer, perhaps the greatest chess player ever in Bobby Fischer Against the World which kicks off HBO’s 2011 summer documentary series (premiering June 6). With invaluable footage and insight into Fischer’s lonely childhood, his becoming America’s Grand Chess Master at 15 and his historic 1972 competition with Russia’s Boris Spassky in Iceland for the world chess championship that became front page news around the world, Garbus makes a case that chess, genius and insanity go nearly hand in hand.
