Beautiful Songs (for Denniston Hill)
Bemis spent the month of August 2011 at Denniston Hill, a rural upstate New York artist residency program, and curated a month's worth of residents. This mix is dedicated to those people and that time and place. If you are so inclined, go read/watch a bit about his experience there, so as to compliment your listening experience. With tracks from artists and producers including Alan Lomax, Pablo Casals, Elizabeth Cotten, Clogs, Juana Molina, Sufjan Stevens, Aldo Ciccolini/Erik Satie, Holcombe Waller, Antony with Bryce Dessner, Roy Harper, Max Richter, The National, John Mellencamp, Martin Carthy, Diane Cluck, and Boards Of Canada. The host is soliciting feedback, so write Bemis at ahb@brassland.org

Teenage Kicks is hosted by Alec Hanley Bemis, co-founder of New York's Brassland label and a producer who conceives and manages creative projects that make a global impact. Each episode is about an hour long. The musical themes may be clearer to him than they are to you but the selections will inevitably be intense and deeply felt.
