Barrie Chase, Grover Dale, & Debra Levine on MoMA’s All That Jack (Cole)
The influential, but unsung, dancer and choreographer Jack Cole (1911-1974) is getting a salute courtesy of the Museum of Modern Art’s extensive series All that Jack (Cole), running from January 20 - February 4, 2016. The tribute event not only screens the landmark Hollywood musicals he staged, like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, There's No Business Like Show Business, and Les Girls, but offers special, in-person guest appearances from veteran Cole dancers. In this session, host Stephen Schaefer speaks with co-curator of the series Debra Levine, an encyclopedic authority on Cole, and dancers Barrie Chase, who is best known as Fred Astaire’s final dancing partner, and Broadway hoofer, Grover Dale.
