Anthony Braxton, 19 [Solo] Compositions (1989)



Live concert recordings featuring avant-garde composer and saxophonist Anthony Braxton playing 16 of his works and three jazz classics (You Go To My Head, 'Round Midnight and Half Nelson). Each piece explores structural, tonal, or textural ideas, moods, or content. Lyrical, abstract, traditional, melodic, freeform, etc. Some of the labels assigned to the pieces are ballade, relationship, triplet diatonic, and multiphonic.

Many of the segments were assembled for the former radio station of P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center (now MoMA/PS1) between 2004 and 2006.
