Andy Serkis, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

English actor Andy Serkis never imagined in 1999, when he played lisping Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, that he would become the film world’s pre-eminent performance capture artist. Since then he has acted with CGI effects as King Kong, Captain Haddock in Tintin, and now Caesar the Alpha chimp in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Serkis tells how it all began and what’s changed.
