Allen Ginsberg at The New School, part 1

This recording is a rebroadcast of a first in a series of readings that Allen Ginsberg gave at The New School, in 1968. In this first part, the poet reads from a selection of works that were recently published his poetry collection; Planet News: 1961-1967. The collection is overtly autobiographical, dictating his reflections on sex, Communism, the Vietnam War, and what he calls; dream opinions of a Buddhist Jew. Before he jumps into his reading, however, the Ginsberg chants "harikrishna," which is a precursor to vocal exercises to come in later recordings at the School.
