Alan Moore, The Social Center Movement
In an amusing turn of events, a panel discussion on international art squats was evicted from the lecture hall at the Center for Architecture: it ran over by a few minutes. The attendees and participants, lead by Alan Moore, one of the founders of ABC No Rio, decamped to a Cuban bar across the street. The Social Center movement is a global action lead mostly by artists and social activists--this recording is a great primer on the general parameters of the movement and offers a description of the exhibition Moore organized at ABC No Rio in May of 2009, House Magic, which then moved to the Sculpture Center in Long Island City (43 minutes).
