Alan Moore & Sandra Skurvida
Will Corwin brings friend and historian Alan Moore in to interrogate curator Sandra Skurvida about her 2009 exhibit AVANT-GUIDE TO NYC: Discovering Absence at apexart, an exploratory curatorial "map" of the artistic spaces in New York City that have disappeared everywhere but in the minds of those who remember them. Skurvida explains that the exhibit is not about anything, but may become something, that it's a statement less of its aggregated artworks than its intention. She also discusses her distrust of history and notions of historical accuracy as well as the future outgrowths of this exhibition, which further examine other stages of artistic creation through site-specific projects throughout the galleries, stores and street corners New York, with a focus at the Storefront for Art and Architecture (34 minutes).
Will's two earlier conversations with Moore can be found here and here, and Skurvida's discussion with AIR founder and director Alanna Heiss and artist Nancy Hwang can be found here.
