Afrocentric Analog & Digital Dancefloor
As much as every day is Record Store Day for many, here's a bunch of new tunes picked out of the record bins in NYC as well as promos from record labels such as Cumbancha, Soundway Records, truThoughts and Defected Records.
Kicking off the show with mellow guitar & piano vibes of the Toure-Raichel Project and then stepping it right up with Mamani Keita. Next up we have "Mother in Law" by Sierre Leone's Refugee Allstars which was produced by Brooklyn's own Victor Axelrod (aka Ticklah). Soundway keeps us on the dance floor with K. Frimpong & Super Complex Sounds 70's stomper followed by another 12" vinyl re-edit from GAMM. Straight off Soundcloud, Mr. Scruff delivers this remix of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble's funky horns. The next two songs come courtesy of The Spy from Cairo who's latest album ARABADUB comes out May 28th worldwide! Staying in the East, Nickodemus' Dub stepper remix of Canadian artist Adham Shaik's Kundalini Fuel. Can't get too relaxed, so "Badungdang" by The Sleeping Giants will get you in the London Bass Speaker. Ending the set with At Jazz's remix of "Orisa" from the Osunlade Mix on Defected Records.
