IdeasCity Arles: Cared For
IdeasCity Arles fellows Salome Asega, María Elena Ortiz, Rasu Jilani, Natasha Marie Llorens, and others, reflect on their initial impressions of Arles, the role one plays as an outsider in a rapidly developing city, and mull over how the infrastructure of cities plays a role in how it's citizens are cared for.
Salome Asega breaks-in the 2017 IdeasCity Radio program with a selection of tunes highlighting both international and American cities that undergo post-industrial re-branding.
ABOUT
Salome Asega is an artist and researcher based in Brooklyn. Asega is Assistant Director of POWRPLNT, a digital art collective, and co-host of Hyperopia: 20/30 Vision, a talk show on Bel-Air Radio. Previously, she was an artist in residence at Eyebeam and the Laundromat Project. Asega recently exhibited at the 11th Shanghai Biennial.
María Elena Ortiz is a curator and writer based in Miami. She is Associate Curator at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, Previously, she was Curator of Contemporary Arts at Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros in Mexico City.
Rasu Jilani is a curator, cultural producer, and entrepreneur based in New York. Rasu is Director of Cultural Diversity and Strategic Partnerships at NEW INC, the New Museum’s incubator for art, design, and technology.
Natasha Marie Llorens is a curator and writer based in New York and Marseille, FR. She is a graduate of the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and is currently a PhD candidate in Art History at Columbia University. Her writing has been published in Bomb Magazine among other journals.
