52nd NY Film Festival: Mathieu Amalric, The Blue Room

Best known for his 007 villain in Quantum of Solace, and starring in Julian Schnabel’s The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, France’s Mathieu Amalric adapts, directs and stars in the steamy The Blue Room. The auteur discusses the sexual explicitness of the Georges Simenon source novel, casting his partner Stéphanie Cléau as his mostly naked mistress, and what this crime film says about the people we live with and love.
