Electric Kahraba
RADIO SERIES
Kahraba is an electric force that pulls the world together -Halim El Dabh Perpetually searching for unique sounds that create the make-up of independent Middle Eastern Music, J. Namy aka Electric Kahraba, brings together contemporary and traditional music from the region. Compiling mixed soundtracks with songs and artists from obscure places, such as bootlegged music from Dubai to old Khaliji folk songs, Namy asks conceptual questions and challenges traditional notions of a uniform playlist. He also invites musicians and record label producers onto the show, where they engage in conversations about promoting music in their respective countries. The program is produced in Beirut, Lebanon and made available here in partnership with J. Namy.
Clocktower Radio was launched by MoMA/PS1 in 2004 as the Web's first art radio station. It has been independent since 2009 and is licensed to host content created under PS1 management.
