MANIA
RADIO SERIES
'MANIA' is an audio exploration of psychosis in relation to our society, generational trauma, healing, and magic. This project is a means to explore mental illness as an ongoing response to oppressive environments. Your host YATTA will investigate the relationship between psychotic flare-ups and what’s not working in our society, with a specific focus towards how capitalism encourages preferential treatment of
neurotypical minds and extroversion, as well as supression of feelings.
YATTA is a Sierra-Leonean american digipoet and performer who remixes shamanic sounds with her jazz vocals to create music to lie down in. A former Flux Factory resident, she runs Operations at DIY Collective Silent Barn in Brooklyn, NY.
Yatta has presented her poetry and music at Vassar College, the New School, Cornell University and the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival at Knockdown Center. Her work has been featured in Rookie Magazine, Dazed, Mask Magazine, Tiny Mixtapes, and more.
