Long Distance Poison

Long Distance Poison's two month residency, entitled Sound and Time, focuses on investigating methods and techniques for creating existential audio visual experiences. LDP uses the Clocktower residency space and the Pioneer Works recording studio as environments to experiment in the creation of modular synthesizer and analog electronic music, temporally programmed candles, experimental incense, and modular video synthesis that together form the materia prima for three performances.

Started by Nathan Cearley and Erica Bradbury, the LDP duo focuses on the development of long-form works that emerge from a negotiation and play between conceptual, frequency, and spectral territories and their alterations as they are engaged in time. LDP's compositions take many forms, mirroring strategies found in drone, noise, and other forms of experimental electronic music; they employ empty and spatially porous zones, sequenced patterns of rhythmic noise, random and pseudo-random processes, improvised keyboard work, chance, and mistake. LDP's "slow-time" weirdo sound experiment communicates with the Mystery.

Rumkala Malantara

Rumkala Malantara is an A/V performance from Long Distance Poison (Nathan Cearley and Erica Bradbury). It is an event that builds a space to dwell on time from modular synthesizer and analog electronic experiments, the interplay between modal and spectral approaches to frequency relations, random, pseudo random, and intuitive processes, contrasts between pulse, chaos and duration, and modular video synthesis. The performance takes place at Pioneer Works' recording studio, housed in a shipping container in the garden. The LDP duo focuses on the development of long-form works that emerge from negotiations between conceptual, frequency, and spectral territories and their alterations as they are engaged in time. LDP's compositions take many forms, mirroring strategies found in drone, noise, and other forms of experimental electronic music. LDP's "slow-time" weirdo sound experiment communicates with the Mystery. Throughout the day at Pioneer Works, Nathan and Erica host an experimental candle and incense workshop, forging material for their culminating A/V performance, Sound and Time. Come observe their process and ask questions, dip your own candle, and experiment with your own time.

It Sounds Like Time Inside

It Sounds Like Time Inside is a short film presented by Clocktower artists-in-residence Long Distance Poison, depicting experiments in candle making, modular video synthesis, and meditations on narrative and time. The evening begins with a short experimental candle and incense workshop. This workshop demonstrates the process behind the materials used in the film. Something seems to be revealed but then suddenly is concealed. A relation to Being flickers. During the opening of the video installation, Long Distance Poison hosts an experimental candle and incense workshop, forging material for their culminating A/V performance, Sound and Time. Come observe their process and ask questions, dip your own candle, and experiment with your time. And a repeat performance of Long Distance Poison’s modular video/analog sound event Rumkala Malantara will take place in the Pioneer Works recording studio at 9pm.

Sound & Time: Sacred Music after a God

Clocktower artists-in-residence Long Distance Poison present Sound & Time: Sacred Music after a God, a music event and culminating performance of the duo's residency. The performance uses modular and analog electronic audio, temporally programmed candles, experimental incense, and video synthesis to create zones for communication with mystery. The result is a short order cult; a vigil to the transitory reality of the power of immanence.
