Hannah Sawtell: The Island Studio Sessions
Hannah Sawtell's multi-disciplinary practice considers the manifestations and manipulation of surplus cultural production, the noise of the document and a language of editing that designates the screen as a lens.
Hannah Sawtell lives and works in London. Recent exhibitions and events include Piano Lesson, Vilma Gold, London (2012); ICA Artist Film Club, ICA, London (2011); LUX Touring Programme 2011/12, Whitechapel Gallery, London, Tramway, Glasgow and First Site, Colchester; Exploring The Abstract, Tate St Ives (2011); Serpentine Cinema, The Gate, London (2010). Upcoming exhibitions include a solo show at ICA, London and Out of Focus, Saachi Gallery, London.
This project continues a series of co-produced residencies, exhibitions and broadcasts at the Clocktower Gallery and online at ARTonAIR.org. This ongoing project brings together artists who in various ways negotiate the space of transition between aural and visual modes of production and dissemination, investigating how music and noise function as a forms of cultural disruption, charged with the potential to collapse genre boundaries and subvert social and cultural institutions.
