Eve Essex
Eve Essex is a Brooklyn-based artist, producer, and musician. She is one half of the artist duo Essex Olivares with Juan Antonio Olivares; their performances and installations have been presented at SculptureCenter, Lisa Cooley, Shoot the Lobster, Present Company and the Standard High Line as part of New York Fashion Week. Other solo and collaborative projects have been exhibited at Performa 11 (via The Public School NY), the Philadelphia Music Project (at the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage), the Boston Center for the Arts, PUFFERS/RK Projects, and Peer to Space (Munich), among others. On saxophone and flute, she performs with the improv quartet Das Audit. In 2011-12 she was Associate Producer and created video with Anna Craycroft for the premiere run of “Vidas Perfectas”, an internationally touring Spanish-language revival of Robert Ashley’s opera Perfect Lives.
Eve received a BFA in Sculpture from Rhode Island School of Design, following studies at New England Conservatory and Brown University, and has held residencies at The Berwick Research Institute, Boston, and Art Farm Nebraska. Her writing is published in If A Then B and Sex Magazine. She is Marketing & Outreach Director at the Brooklyn experimental performance venue ISSUE Project Room, and formerly Web Developer of Clocktower.org.
