Bruce Pearson

New York artist Bruce Pearson provided a suitcase full of CDs from his collection to reinforce our sound library. It came with one stipulation: find a way to construct playlists that grab tracks from the entire set totally by random, extreme shuffle mode that ranges from Zydeco to Zorn. We have all enjoyed that feature on personal devices, but few connoisseurs with the depth and desire of Pearson have let us into their brain, or their iPod.

Pearson's paintings and drawings often contain text that has been transformed to the point of near indecipherability. He explores a pivotal point where form is pushed to abstraction but can still be recognized. Information can be sensed and felt by deciphering the codes. He shows at Ronald Feldman Gallery in New York.
