After each song he started talking about Miami Beach. He said he'd been there. After the first number he welcomed the audience there and got the stage manager to illuminate the palm tree. The crowd started to applaud, eliciting from Neil a laconic "It's all cheaper than it looks, ladies and gentlemen".

ONEofONE and ARTonAIR.org present WELCOME TO MIAMI, EVERYTHING IS CHEAPER THAN IT LOOKS, a collaborative art and radio project designed to interact with people and events during Art Basel Miami Beach, from December 6–8, 2012. ONEofONE’s broadcast van will roam the streets of Miami collecting, documenting, recording and streamcasting art, music, words, sounds and ideas that inspire and amuse.

WELCOME TO MIAMI, EVERYTHING IS CHEAPER THAN IT LOOKS centers around ONEofONE's muscle van operating as a catalyst for creative action. The vehicle, designed by artists Jonah Freeman and Justin Lowe, features an ongoing bumper sticker installation open to all artists for contribution, the ARTonAIR.org remote radio studio for artists to share playlists, record live music sets, or have rants and conversations recorded from a comfortable lounge. In this collaborative mobile environment, artists will come together to explore the continuing dialogue of art, and recognizing the legendary wonders that influence the journeys we undertake.

The public is invited to explore ONEofONE's van, enjoy performances and special events, and listen to interviews, artist playlists, and radio features. Online visitors to ARTonAIR.org experience the program as part of a 24/7, three-day montage of specially produced programs from over 30 guest artists and the ARTonAIR radio team.

Mark Flood & Kristin Kahler, Commit Suicide

Welcome to Miami: Everything Is Cheaper Than You Think. A playlist for Miami 2012 by Kristin Kahler with image by Mark Flood. Complex: The best wines display a fairly broad range of qualities that render their taste complex and challenging – in contrast to simple wines that lack depth and character. Mark Flood lives and works in Houston, Texas. About this project Kris Kahler writes: This exhibition is a sound of language, a universal connection to all things present and not present, the closest link we have to what was and has never been. Music, words spoken, sounds imagined, can be arranged to create a story, much like books, paintings, waterfalls, a crowd of laughter, the sound of love in the making. All are sounds that our footsteps make in the crossing of the journeys we step a foot on. Just like the chaos of screams can be a release to the silence of a lonely island, the spirit in all it's moving parts begins and ends with "Welcome to Miami. Everything Is Cheaper Than It Looks. On the radio. Myla Dalbesio, Mellow My Mind

Welcome to Miami: Everything Is Cheaper Than You Think. This is Myla Dalbesio's playlist for Miami 2012. Aftertaste: The flavor that remains after you swallow. Surprisingly, this may differ significantly from the taste while the wine is in your mouth. A lingering aftertaste is a virtue, as long as the taste is good! Myla Dalbesio is a Ford model who was discovered at a beauty pageant in her native Wisconsin, and quickly began hacking away at the mold for what constitutes a “normal” size. Having entered into the world of performance art with three shows in 2011—Homecoming, Homecoming: Sophomore Year, and her Young Money exhibition, a garish critique of American culture replete with booze, sex, and hip-hop—she’s quickly emerged as a multi-talented force for whom even the rigid beauty standards of high fashion can’t help but bend.
