Alanna Heiss: London Slade Lecture
Clocktower Director and Founder, Alanna Heiss visits the Slade School of Fine Arts in London to give a lecture on the arc of her career from the 1960's to today. Heiss's topics include her early years in London, the alternative spaces movement in New York, her famed international exhibitions, the emergence of nightclub culture in New York and beyond, the PS1-MoMA merger, and her creation of the first ever all-art museum radio station. The Contemporary Art Lectures are curated by members of the Slade academic staff, introducing students and faculty to key figures and insiders of the global contemporary arts community.
Founded in 1871, at the bequest of Felix Slade, The Slade school was established as a fine arts education institution within a liberal arts university. Past lecturers of the Contemporary Art Lecturers have included Bob and Roberta Smith, Tim Knowles, Richard Wilson, and many others.
