Bahar Behbahani

Multi-media artist Bahar Behbahani waxes poetic about the myriad narratives and strains of thought that are manifested in her exhibition "Let the Garden Eram Flourish," which was on view this winter at the Hood Museum at Dartmouth and was curated by Ugochukwu-Smooth C. Nzewi.

Among other things, this discussion is a primer on the technological feats, aesthetic developments and political meanings of the Iranian garden as both a real and imagined place in the Iranian consciousness.

Bahar, whom Will met at the Art Omi Residency in Ghent, NY, also tells her own story of studying art in Iran and creating a body of work that deftly navigates between the myths and history of her background woven together with colonial and postcolonial perceptions. Bahar Exhibits with the Thomas Erban Gallery in NYC.
