Michael Ballou
So did you hear about the 13-year-old kid who lived on the subway for
11 days straight? You will if you listen in to Will's interview with
Mike Ballou. Sure it's a strange way to open up a fascinating
discussion on the origins and glory days of the Williamsburg art
scene, but it works! Mike tells the story of Four Walls, which was formed
in his garage studio and still exists to this day in miniature form,
in Greenfield, OH, where occasionally a miniature exhibition is
curated by Mike, and only Mike, and don't try to borrow a miniature
drill from the gallery either! He talks about some of the amazing
shows that took place within those four walls and the general vibe of
the scene in the early-mid 90's. He also covers his current
projects, such as a 12-foot-tall cow's head on top of Diner in
Williamsburg (31 minutes).
