After Hours, Bouquet

The California-based band Bouquet take their audience above the clouds on the Hyatt's Bar 54 roof deck and serenade them against the city skyline. Bar 54 is NYC’s highest rooftop lounge with river-to-river views.

The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are limited, and can be acquired at http://flavorpill.com/users/times-square-arts. The performance is livestreamed here on Clocktower.org at 10pm EST.

Bouquet is a kaleidoscopic pop duo from Los Angeles, CA consisting of Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs and Max Foreman. The two set out to create a uniquely inviting, immersive sound, intoning delicate vocal harmonies to a rising, ghostlike mass of guitar, trembling synthesizer, and pulsations of early rhythm machines. Bouquet’s music echoes undefinable post-punk wonders Young Marble Giants and This Mortal Coil, synth heroes such as Cluster and Suicide, and the dulcet sensibilities of Sibylle Baier and Sandy Denny.

Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs, Bouquet

Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs, half of the kaleidoscopic pop duo Bouquet out of Los Angeles, visited the Clocktower studios in Spring 2014 to chat and strum a few tunes. Along with musical partner Max Foreman, the two create a uniquely inviting, immersive sound, intoning delicate vocal harmonies to a rising, ghostlike mass of guitar, trembling synthesizer, and pulsations of early rhythm machines.

After Hours, The Drums

The Drums share songs from their long-awaited new album due out Fall 2014 at the Supernova Terrace, Novotel New York Times Square. The audience is not only treated to the group's new music, but also the stunning panoramic views of Times Square that the Supernova has to offer. The performance is SOLD OUT but streaming LIVE here on Clocktower.org at 10:30pm EST. The Drums emerged from Brooklyn via Florida in 2009 and initially caught the ear of the indie world with their Summertime! EP, an escapist collection of beach pop fantasies; tracks suffused with a wistful, longing nostalgia that never pander to cheap sentimentality. Early buzz led to a prestigious spot on the BBC Sound of 2010 shortlist, followed by a slot on the Shockwaves NME Tour in 2009, and the publication’s Phillip Hall Radar Award in early 2010. Their upcoming album is full of "magic and surprise while maintaining a serious, more weighty tone throughout," says founding band member Jonny Pierce. Times Square Arts

Times Square Arts is a Clocktower program partner, and co-producer of After Hours, a series of ephemeral installations and performances hidden amongst the Times Square district’s diverse venues, recorded for radio and video dissemination. Taking advantage of the twilight moment before midnight, and a surreal array of different settings nestled throughout the Times Square area, the Times Square Alliance and Clocktower come together to offer tantalizing glimpses of these spaces as creative catalysts. Pairing musicians and artists with each of these unique contexts, the artists create work specifically designed to draw on the neighborhood's history as a social and artistic melting pot. Times Square Arts collaborates with contemporary artists to experiment and engage with one of the world's most iconic urban places.
