Stickers, From Punk Rock to Contemporary Art

What do Shepard Fairey, Poster Boy, Cost & Revs, Sonic Youth, Goldie, Triple Five Soul, ACT UP, Martha Cooper, Billboard Liberation Front all have in common? The art of the STICKER! ARTonAIR's own BLURRINGradio DJ/host DB Burkeman has been working on the history of the sticker and sticker art which culminated in the 2010 book release of Stickers, From Punk Rock to Contemporary Art (Written by DB Burkeman and Monica LoCascio, contribution by Shepard Fairey and Carlo McCormick, published by Rizzoli).

DB and host Jeannie Hopper discuss the inspiration for the book from his early days in the Punk Rock scene, the Andy Warhol banana sticker for Velvet Underground, and Shepard Fairey's Andre the Giant saturation campaign and his historic Obama campaign stickers.

Clocktower Radio Profiles

The hosts of Clocktower Radio interview artists, writers, curators, producers, activists, thinkers and doers.

As a kid in London, DB used to fall asleep at night with a transistor radio hidden under his pillow. He has been addicted to hearing new music ever since. Here, he brings that music to you.

This is not a music show that's restricted to a particular genre, or even a specific decade, although it has an emphasis on indie rock with electronic elements or electronic music that's not simply for the dance floor. It's a 90-minute mixtape-style show that is as musically open-minded as the musical landscape is wide.
