Richard Laurent, Earthman

Embark on The Earthman Experience --a remarkable journey of out-of-this-world sounds with Richard Laurent and host Richard Fleming. The veteran of new music genres, Haitian born Laurent pioneered the emergence of House Music in the late 80’s as leader of Moonfou, selling 250,000 of his original ATA Records hit, Shut Up. Building on this debut, he formed Kraze in the mid 90’s with his two sisters and Madonna ex-boyfriend, Norris Borroughs.

Today, Laurent's passion is a practice called Bio Sonics, that is healing through vocal tones, frequencies, and sonic vibrations. While in Tunisia, he sought out a group of healers performing this work and stayed for many months to study with them. His swift and remarkable proficiency in this method of healing, led the healers to dub him “Earthman.”

In 2007, Laurent joined forces with fellow Haitian DJ, Hard Hittin Harry, and their official launch took place at a Benefit Concert for Haiti sponsored by Artist Relief Fund for Haiti and held at New York’s Club SOB’s. Their powerhouse funk ensemble makes Fela Kuti-inspired Afrobeat, and tribal music-infused house jams. Dj Hard Hittin Harry uses a live turntable to create a West African djembe drumming backbeat which contributes to the sensual and mystic tone of the group’s music.
