Plastic surgery has reached epidemic proportions in the U.S. and Suzanne Anker gathers a crew of insiders to examine some of the aesthetic and social issues raised by transforming the body through augmentations, reductions and cosmetic procedures that are rooted in the practice of artists from Warhol to Orlan and Sherman.

Karen Burke, M.D., Ph.D, is a dermatologist and research scientist who sits on the Board of Governors of the New York Academy of Sciences. Performance artist Martha Wilson is Founding Director of the historic Franklin Furnace Archive. Shelley Rice is an art historian and critic, and the editor of Inverted Odysseys: Claude Cahun, Maya Deren, Cindy Sherman.
