Douglas Henderson and Samuel Rousseau, VOLTA NY 2010

Art & Technology and host Daniel Durning return to AIR after a year-long absence, bringing you the sights, sounds and conversations of 2010's Armory Arts Week. Recorded live at VOLTA NY, one of the many art fairs in New York during the March 4 weekend, our program showcases two of the fair's featured artists: sound artist Douglas Henderson and video artist Samuel Rousseau. Henderson is represented by Berlin's Gallerie Mario Mazzoli, where he recently held his exhibition Dukatenscheisser, and Rousseau is represented by Belgium's Aeroplastics Contemporary. In 2010, VOLTA NY's selected galleries featured exclusively solo projects of notable and emerging international artists, bringing together work from 86 remarkable artists and artist collaborators. These interviews were recorded March 5 and March 7, 2010 (30 minutes).

The series consists of interviews with contemporary visual and audio artists discussing their work, influences, aesthetics and the technical issues they encounter in the creation of their art, relating their personal views about the uses and usages of new media in the art world today. The show opens a discourse with artists working in Interactive, Performance, Screen Based, and Audio and Sound Based media about the role that dynamic technologies play in contemporary art and their own artwork.
