Fountain Art Fair 2013, Part 1

100 Years after the first Armory show, host Daniel Durning hunts for the ghosts of Duchamp while lounging on a bed and listening to the ranting of the Great Performer at the 2013 Fountain Art Fair. In this outing of Art and Technology we capture the sights, sounds from The Historic Lexington Ave Armory at the Fountain Art Fair 2013. Tune in and listen to the sounds of art and discussions with the artists.

Esmeralda Kosmatopoulos about "PillowTalks"
Two pillows. A Twitter feed. White hotel sheets, rumpled and well-worn, are strewn across a queen-sized bed. The pillows emit a glow from the tablets embedded in their stuffing. And on the screen, audiences can follow a live Twitter dialogue between @Jan_SoandSo and @Brad_SoandSo, as they publicly reveal an intimate foreplay culled from erotic French literature. The narrative toggles between the visceral bed and the cyber-real ambient fantasy, where abstraction and physicality conflict. Let your fantasies becomes public or not. Voyeurs welcome.
The piece premiered in March 2013 during Armory week in New York. Watch some voyeurs in action on: https://vimeo.com/61592396

Outside Performance by Matthew Silver
New York City Performance Artist Matthew Silver plays an enlightened idiot that has nothing to teach anybody, except the moment, he makes fun of the brain for being too serious, for creating polarities, dualities, causing some humans to have mental breakdowns and forget about love. Itís interactive performance art meant to make people laugh by creating awkward moments, emphasizing the present moment and how important it is. He parodies excessive seriousness by playing with taboos, rules, and social norms. His inspiration comes from his heart. He performs for smiles and laughter, loosening peopleís armor, and opening up a portal for imagination, creativity and love.

Interview with artists Nancy Oliveri & Assunta Sera of The Hullaballoo Collective
The Hullaballoo Collective is thrilled to be returning to the Fountain Art Fair at the 69th Regiment Armory on the centennial of The Armory Show. A bootstrap brigade standing on the shoulders of giants, the artists of the Hullaballoo Collective, similarly united to address the problems of exhibiting in a cloistered environment, are proud to band together in unruly style and present to the public, not a manicured, homogenous, and academic selection but a wild swath of the arts today.
