Elizabeth Dee & Ryan McNamara
The Reese's Peanut Butter Cups is perhaps world's most dynamic combinations--rarely have two such great things gone so greatly together. But mark the date, because here, now, this uncommon synthesis has become slightly less anomalous: the art world version of the classic Reese's cup has been born.
Ryan McNamara is one of the most talented artists working in performance today. From his piece at PERFORMA09 called Sacred Band of Thebes AKA Any Fag Could Do That to his 2010 projects in the Whitney Biennial and PS1's Greater New York, McNamara is stepping up the game and blending different practices of dance/theater/history/make-up and more. Now add Elizabeth Dee--one of the most interesting cultural producers making things happen today (she was one of the main people responsible for X Initiative, as well as running her Chelsea gallery)-- to the mix, and the possibilities are nearly endless.
Listen and hear tell of such amazements as the permanent black eye, the mass public display of high school art projects, the re-envisioning of the collector/steward/patron role and the trick to unlocking your ass and learning the almighty booty dance (55 minutes).
Frank Prattle is an interview-style radio show run by artist Zefrey Throwell. Throwell brings two people together (curators, gallerists, critics, collectors, artists, etc....) and they tackle everything under the sun. Frank Prattle is geared primarily towards community education. Its goal is to help people understand and enjoy the art world through the words of the art-stars, professionals, and enthusiasts who live it everyday.more
