Crystal Field, Theater for the New City

Will Corwin chats with Crystal Field, the Executive Artistic Director of the Theater for the New City. She educates him and the listeners on the origins of street theater, in Italy in the 14th century, and discusses the TNC’s current Summer Street Theater Tour, which has been traveling around New York every summer weekend for over thirty years, presenting a new, rollicking production every season, each one filled with music dance and a healthy dose of social commentary. She also relates the history of the TNC, from its humble beginnings in Westbeth in 1970 to its current status as a major New York theatrical institution (34 minutes).
