Adriana Kaegi

The ever-mobile Adriana Kaegi takes a rare rest to stop by the Clocktower and speak with AIR's Jeannie Hopper. With excerpts from her 2009 album Tag to buttress the conversation, Kaegi discusses the curious breadth of her prolific and discursive performance history and how fifteen years of appearing in such varied venues as Saturday Night Live, the White House and the United Nations have led her to where she is now--a place as undefinable as it ever has been. The singer, dancer and musician proves herself an unimpeachable guide to where it was at over the past thirty years, with such figures and institutions as Lee Strasberg, Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Studio 54 and the Chelsea Hotel making appearances in her life that have been as regularly unpredictable as her regularly unpredictable appearances have been. She also offers reminiscences and previously withheld secrets of her pioneering multimedia work with the Cyber Cabaret, one of the first live web-casts, relates the history behind her most recent calling as a video blogger, covering cultural events at Dear Addy, and suppresses no qualms while discussing the ramifications of New York's Giuliani-era cabaret laws (1 hour 3 minutes).
